Pathology of Aging Research Survey for Bodyworkers

Hello!  We are reaching out today to ask for your participation and support.  As part of the broader therapy community we believe that different disciplines have experience and knowledge that, combined collaboratively, can make a difference in the health and well-being of our people in our communities.

Chris Knight and Mary McMichael are part of the 2019 Hellerwork Structural Integration graduating class in Nebraska.  In order to meet Nebraska state pathology-specific licensing requirements, we are doing a pathology research project as part of our Hellerwork Structural Integration training program.  We would appreciate your participation in the survey that we have created.

The focus of our research paper is identifying and addressing three specific conditions that we believe our target clients present.  Those 3 conditions are:

  • the conditions/pathologies of aging which can be assisted with bodywork;
  • the conditions/pathologies of deskbound clients which can be assisted with bodywork;
  • The conditions/pathologies of the pelvic floor which bodywork can impact.

We all want to maximize results for our clients and ensure that we are providing the best services and support that we can.  By studying the previous research that has been published, and by soliciting feedback to the survey below, we believe we can summarize the findings in a way that:

  • Allows us to more quickly understand how to best support each client;
  • Provides suggestions as to which types of practitioners we may want to refer to, and seek referrals from;
  • Provide a consolidated presentation and paper which can be used in presentations and discussions with potential or existing clients.

All responses will be kept confidential.  In our testing, it has taken 15-20 minutes to complete the survey, depending on the free form responses.  For those who provide an email, we will be making the final paper available to you after graduation on January 31, 2019.

In order to consolidate and correlate the findings from the survey with our other research, and to get our final paper completed, we need the responses to the survey by December 1, 2018.

Thank you in advance for being willing to share your time and knowledge to make this material as comprehensive as possible!!

Warmest Holidays Wishes!!
